Colorado – Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol
Coloradans are working to get an initiative on the 2012 ballot to tax and regulate marijuana for those aged 21 or older.
The campaign is currently collecting signatures to get the Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol in 2012 Act on the 2012 ballot in Colorado.

STATES WITH LEGAL MMJ HAVE FEWER TRAFFIC FATALITIES.
According to a very new study by D. Mark Anderson and Daniel I. Rees, traffic fatalities are lower in states that have enacted medical marijuana laws. In states where medical marijuana is legal, young adults have reduced their consumption of alcohol and increased the use of cannabis. (Beer sales fall in states that have legalized medical marijuana.) The reduction in alcohol consumption has led to a reduction in the number of traffic fatalities generally, and to a reduction in the number of DUI fatalities. Traffic fatalities fell by nearly 9 percent after medical marijuana was legalized.
The study goes on to note that, although cannabis use impairs driving related actions such as hand-eye coordination and reaction time, studies on the effect of cannabis use do not show that people impaired by cannabis are at an increased risk for getting into accidents. There are indications that people who have consumed cannabis compensate by increasing following distances and avoid risky maneuvers. Experienced cannabis users show less impairment then infrequent users. The study contains interesting other facts. A common concern raised by opponents of legal medical marijuana is that such laws increase the risk of use of cannabis by minors. However, there does not appear to be a correlation between legal medical marijuana and cannabis consumption by minors.

Ten Tips To Avoid Trouble with Police
People are being arrested for possession and cultivation of MMJ. The following tips are based on actual criminal cases. If you are arrested, you may still win in Court. However, the emotional and financial costs will be quite high.
1. Only transport Cannabis in an opaque and airtight container.
2. Store Cannabis in opaque airtight container at home.
3. If you grow cannabis, only grow inside.
4. Do everything you can so that people outside cannot smell the cannabis that is inside.
5. Don’t drive a vehicle while smelling of cannabis smoke.
6. Don’t grow more cannabis than you can prove you need, regardless of a doctor’s
recommendation for more than 6 plants and 2 ounces.
7. Growing excess plants to ensure you have enough because you know that some of the plants die is not a defense to felony cultivation of cannabis.
8. Do not possess cannabis in any form unless you have all your paperwork easily available.
9. Do not possess cannabis in any form unless all your paperwork is up to date.
10. Finally, please remember that the Colorado MMJ amendment does not provide an absolute defense to marijuana related criminal charges.
